We went work at a Nascar race yesterday and it was a pretty good time.
They call the track the Monster Mile and it is really huge. That is a real size car in that monster's hand.
I am pretty sure that is Jeff Gordon's car there. I don't follow Nascar but I do know a few of the names and Jeff Gordon is one of them.
And here is one of the common sights that I saw all day long. I was working in a booth selling food and drinks for Keith's squadron and there were so many men who thought is was ok to walk around without a shirt on. I wanted to post a sign saying "no shirt, no service" but no one else was on board for that. But that is Nascar.

Here is short video of the cars being led behind the Pace car right before the race starts. It was really loud and really exciting. Like a baseball game, it is much more exciting to watch in person than on television. Keith had to go back and work again today and it will be much more busy but I was glad I finally got to witness a real Nascar race. It was pretty cool.

Today, Keith and I went to Amish country in Pennsylvannia near Lancaster. We ate at the same restaurant we dined at back in 2001 called Stoltzfus Farm Resaurant. It is family style and we ate so much food. Everything is homemade including the sausage which is processed in their butcher shop fresh daily. We also had ham loaf, fried chicken (the best), Pepper cabbage, corn and string beans, potato filling, buttered noodles and for dessert we had cherry crumb cake, apple crumb cake a la mode and we tasted Shoo-fly pie which didn't taste like much. It is kind of a molasses sugar pie. Man, we left stuffed.
We took a ride in an Amish buggy but the guy that took us was a Mennonite who was born into the Amish but his family left them when he was 15. The ride was great and we went around and saw many Amish homes.
Here is an Amish Farm where they were growing corn and tobacco. They had two teenage boys cutting the tobacco by hand. The Amish really work hard, it is so amazing. They use no electricity at all but do use diesel engines for milking cows because the dairy farms require it.
We went through this pretty covered bridge that was built in the mid 1800's and used to be used by the steam engines.
Lastly, we went to a great antique store and purchased this great bench for the end of our bed. Of course we need a new bed to go with it but that will come in time. We had a great day and I am ready to lay down on my big ole couch and take a nap! Happy Labor Day.
